Air Arts is the arts charity for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, delivering a wide ranging programme of arts and creative activities for patients, staff and visitors to improve the hospital experience and support wellbeing.
As part of Our National Health Stories, Air Arts created a ‘Choral Forest’, made up of five tree sculptures created using words and images from staff to represent each hospital site as part of the Trust.
Sitting alongside the sculptures are 2 pieces of music ‘A Grateful Heart’ and ‘The Longest Winter’ composed by musicians Jamie Rutherford, Fliss Biacsi, and Rosie Rutherford inspired by the words, poetry, photography, and artwork of NHS staff. The Choral Forest project continues to grow with staff workshops creating mini choral trees and plans for an EP.
