St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Songs and stories have formed part of the work of St George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for Our National Health Stories and the 75th Anniversary, with the arts programme led by Arts St George’s (part of St George’s Hospital Charity). In the Summer of 2023, visiting artist Hannah Coulson drew up visual prompts, and invited staff to respond to questions such as “What stories should be left untold” and “How does love come into the workplace?”

Over several months, the St George’s Hospital Staff Choir, led by Georgia Duncan, wrote “Who Cares For The Carers”, a song which explores what it means to be a part of the NHS at this important time in the institution’s history. The song will be performed by the choir members led by Georgia.

St George’s Choir performed their original song “Who cares for the carers” created specially for Our National Health stories, along with a selection of other songs. The choir sung to the backdrop of an exhibition of cards displaying staff words, compiled over the past 6 months, and  telling stories from across the trust.
