As part of the Trusts activities, Artist in residence, creative writer Susan Hunter Downer came across an intriguing folder full of collected stories from retired workers from the 1950’s onwards at the Heritage Site at the Northern General Hospital, part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This fascinating collection inspired Susan to write a poem about one the hospital’s first consultants.

Taking part in the literal beating heart of the hospital, The plantroom, dancers and singers brought to life the stories collected from NHS staff through music and dance.
The Trust also hosted an additional finale event – Hand over Hand – on 30th November at Theatre Deli Sheffield. This live performance of dance, poetry, sound, songs and animation, created by and with staff and volunteers from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, featured work developed as part of Our National Health Stories.
