Vinyl Art Inspired by Staff

This summer, artist Simon Grennan led sessions with housekeeping, cleaning, portering and estates and facilities staff across Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 4 hospital sites to hear their experiences and thoughts about their work – specifically the caring aspects of their work. 

From these conversations he’s selected 12 reflections from staff and used these to design text-based vinyl artworks which have been installed on tables in cafes and restaurants across the hospitals. Brightly coloured texts in handwritten fonts they foreground the words of staff who often don’t get heard and reflect the enormous care that goes into their roles. As one member of staff says, ‘We’re in the same band, but we play different instruments’
